Tax makes no sense at all?
What is the point of selling high level cards when you lose so much of your profit due to tax. I mean some cards it can be 7-8 thousand stubs..Seminoles/Bucs/RaysTags: None -
Re: Tax makes no sense at all?
I would not buy anyone right now that is that high. There is no way that someone like Trout will be 100k in a month. When i started last year in May, i think he was in the 30-40k range. Maybe he wont go that low but i cant see him staying anywhere close to 100k. And all of these games have tax but it is still easy to flip and make stubs -
Re: Tax makes no sense at all?
I pulled a Kershaw last night and im gonna list him when the time looks right but the tax just to sell is almost 10K follow that with trying to beat other sellers prices can really add up.Seminoles/Bucs/RaysComment

Correct, Video Game Currency Economics 101. In any 'shared world' or 'shared market' game there are always measures put in to keep things balanced, whether that be currency or crafting materials, etc depending on the type of game. imbalance leads to broken market.Comment

Re: Tax makes no sense at all?
The problem is they aren't taxing an in-game only currency that you earn. People buy stubs with real money that are used to purchase packs or players. At no point can you cash in your player for real money but somehow they can take part of your money (cash paid for stubs) on every transaction within the marketplace (stub to stub transaction). Personally, it doesn't seem like a fair practice.Comment

Re: Tax makes no sense at all?
Lol, the ultimate answer!
But seriously, if there was no tax on the market (in terms of stub purchases for DD) your stub purchases with real money would be less valuable because the market would be imbalanced. It's hard to explain because it deals with economics, but the tax is actually good for us market players. The tax is not for SCEA to take and roll around on a bed with.Comment

Re: Tax makes no sense at all?
For all the "pro" tax theorist:
I am new to video game "economics", did not dabble in on line last year. However this year I am enjoying the conquest mode and therefore I am starting to have interest in the market.
I do have the following questions :
What game market crashed do to not having a "tax" system ?
At what point does the tax rate have diminishing returns? It apparently increased from 5 to 10 this year, so is the market acting more stabilized than last year?
One thing that no one is addressing is the money supply is infinite I can go and buy 1,000's of stubs right now, which I do not think anyone is addressing when comparing to real economics...although our current Fed is perhaps trying that theory, but that is a completely different ugly discussion...Comment

Also, I just want to state that I am thoroughly enjoying the game, especially when DD is working. I am not someone who is complaining and wants their money back.Comment
