Getting back into Diamond Dynasty after 3 years

The new system is confusing to me. You used to be able to use MLB players to supplement your team, but now it seems like MLB players are the only thing available. Can I still stock my team with custom/imaginary edited players? That would be pretty lame if you can't do that anymore. That was half the fun I thought.

Yeah you can only have MLB players and one created player in MLB 15 and 16

The flashbacks and legends are cool but I do miss the old system.
