    Directional Swinging vs PCI

Its brutal this year. I cant use PCI. Im terrible. Was never able to use it. This year now, they nerfed directional hitting. Im getting misses with "good" swings more than I have ever had. Its really frustrating. Im talking swings in the zone with guys that have contact over 90/100....Any tips?

    I gave up on directional.

I practiced with pci on vet then all star then hall of fame.... I still can't do much on legend or hall of fame but I routinely hit hrs in veteran and occasional in all star now.

Directional it was always saying my timing was off, I fouled off everything on all star when I felt I was on it. Once I actually practiced pci on practice lode I got better almost instantly.

I switched pitching to analog too. I still can't control the right joystick up and to the left but I'm perfect up and to the right

Directional is incredibly frustrating....unless this new patch changes something i am going to give zone a go with out touching the stick.

Man I’m the same way with analog pitching. Can’t go up and to the left.

Directional is more or less fine for me offline. Outright misses on good swings are rare and usually on pitches in very tough spots.

Doesn't work at all online after the earlier patches, though.

Directional is challenging...you need to understand how the influences work for each player on your team. You can't just influence where the pitch is or always influence in one direction....it just does not work that way.

Another key is to have players with good vision ratings, contact helps, but vision is critical. Guys like Gallo are complete garbage (as they should be) using directional unless they happen to run into a pitch.

It's also entirely possible to hit well without using influences at all. I don't use influences probably 75% of the time unless I have runners on base or a shift is on.

                    Re: Directional Swinging vs PCI

I've always been a stubborn directional hitter. I'm not changing no matter what!

I finally broke down and switched to Zone hitting a few weeks ago, and I won't go back. First and foremost, it's just more fun. I feel like I have more control, good and bad, and I get more feedback on what I did wrong or right.

I'm an average hitter, at best, but I'm enjoying the game more. I'm an old guy and my reluctance to change was partially that I thought I would have to try to chase the ball around the zone and I don't have the reflexes or desire to do that. I also play on a large screen projector system with a receiver, so I don't get instant response to my controller inputs.

I don't try to chase the ball much. I tend to set the PCI middle or just below and try to get a pitch near the PCI. I may move the PCI lower when behind in the count and/or with a low-ball off-speed pitcher. I rarely intentionally move the PCI during the pitch.

So, I like Zone hitting far better than I thought I would, and I think I can get better with more practice. But I care way more about having fun than being good at this game!

Its gotten worse...It sucks for me, because i cant use PCI. Ive played 5 games this morning. 50 innings. One game went 14 innings. 4 hits total, no hit in one of the games.

Guys struggling with directional, try analog. Trust me! Lol

When i struggle with the PCI and Zone I go to analog to relax and get back to taking pitches.

Current patch, plus analog online, plus hitting proper pitches etc, you will mash.

I do this a lot. I will get swing happy especially in moments where I'm just trying to get them done as fast as possible.

Sometimes just switching to a different hitting view helps get me back on track or just going into custom practice and just tracking the ball.

I still suck at stage 1 showdowns though, No helping me there. Lol

It’s been probably 7 years since I did analog hitting. Is that just pull the stick back and push it forward to hit, no placement to the ball?
