I don’t necessarily agree with this. If you’re playing the cpu for the sole reason of getting the stats and xp to complete these missions, rookie is the way to go IMO. The difficulty multipliers are too small. For example, I can easily score 7 or 8 runs per game on AS, or 40-50 runs per game on rookie. So at minimum I’m gaining about 5 times more stats on rookie vs AS, but you’re not getting 5 times the pxp on AS, I believe it’s only 20%.

There is absolutely ZERO requirement to play on rookie; in fact, grinds can be slower on rookie as higher difficulties are weighted for higher gains. Obviously, you need to assess your own skill so as to not overdo the difficulty to the point where you're not being successful.

It is a USER choice to grind it out on rookie. If people choose to do so; that is entirely on them (for better or worse).

I personally play EVERYTHING on All Star; that is MY choice (which is not better/worse than anyone else's).

But if you treat everything as a grind, it is going to be a grind.

Real talk. I play on All-Star as well, and step up to Legend later in the year when I’m not chasing missions or anytime want more of a challenge after 90,000 ABs. My larger point is about the missions is how high they’ve jacked up the thresholds. With the volume of cards in the game, trying to chase down thousands of PXP at their current weight is excessive.

I do tend to be a “just play and be pleasantly surprised when you unlock a reward” kind of player, but also feel that tension of “keep up or get left behind” because of the velocity of cards.

Some of us are not that good. I normally play on Veteran and stepping down to Rookie would not make that big of a difference for me, at least I don't think it would.

For those of you who can score 40-50 runs on the CPU on rookie then that is a great boost and speeds things up tremendously but if you can't do that then it is a slow grind. Playing a conquest game and going 0-2 with a player you need PXP with gets you something like 20 points.

I played the entire Spring Clean Up conquest map (on veteran) with one of the POTM cards in the leadoff spot and he did not even finish his POTM PXP mission in that time. Now, How many times do I have to repeat that as they trickle out the remaining stage 2 cards to me?

Re: What Are You Working On? (Returning) - MLB The Show 22 Edition

I wanted to grind out some BR today but I can't even force myself. Losing to people flailing at every pitch that get gifted very early gap shots while I'm lining out on fastballs down the middle with good swings. Lost to 2 good players with zero complaints. Today has been a carousel of gameplay issues shoved in my face.

I've never played a game like this where one day, everything goes my way with or without good input and I can't lose. Then the next I can piece up balls all day and line out while I'm losing to awful swings and terrible animations. And the latter almost always seems to happen on off-days when I can play as long as I want and I can't even make it 2 hours without needing to stop.

I don't know why they butchered gameplay from last year but here we are. When great swings aren't lineouts they're still putouts because everyone can flop like fishes and dive and catch anything with any player.

7 days left in BR and I don't think there's any chance I can finish it. 350k xp after finishing all the offline stuff except moments. If I do the moments it's going to be during double xp week to get the most value but will only subject myself to that if I have a chance to complete the full program.

I was talking about the vs cpu 9 inning games. I agree, trying to get the pxp (especially pitching) in 3 inning games is awful. That’s why I wish there was an option for 9 inning games in mini seasons, because I’d you’re doing the vs cpu games, the only thing you are accomplishing is pxp. It would be nice to be able to work on something else while grinding those stats.

Re: What Are You Working On? (Returning) - MLB The Show 22 Edition

I think they could alleviate some of the frustration if they lowered the number of plate appearances you need for PXP stats to accumulate.

Right now you need at least 8 PA for your stats to hold. That alone makes it take longer when grinding the Monthly stuff. Before, you could just reload PvCPU games until you got your stats and move on. With PXP and 8 PA, you have to either bat around in the first or often play 2 to 3 innings just to reach that threshold.

Which at that point you might as well play the whole game - and that's probably the point. But I loved the pace of last year's grind and looked forward to it every month. The changes so far this year make it less fun and less desirable but it's something I'll still do.

I TRULY, honestly think SDS is going to tweak things for the May program and moving forward....it's not the first time they have over-done things initially. Including the other player packs after acquiring Rizzo was the mistake IMO - the 2500 and 3000 missions go a LOT faster if you have all the other cards.

I remember in 20 where the monthly moments were a nightmare the first month or two in how they were structured (don't remember specifics) and they were modified later on.

This plus having the full set of April cards for May will make it easier to get PXP.
