You'd argue for most of AJ's time? I'm beginning to wonder how much some of you watched TNA. I didn't watch it faithfully, but always bought their DVDs and it was pretty obvious that he was their guy. If you wanna say Angle and Sting began to take that spotlight, I can go with that. But to say he wasn't the man for most of his time there is just wrong.

Re: NJPW stars possibly heading to WWE

If I asked you to name TNAs top star from it's entire time, the answer is 100% without a shadow of a doubt AJ Styles.

He was a mainstay during the weekly PPV era, was a mainstay in their transition to TV and is one of (if not the) main reasons that company is still around to this day. Hell, he was nicknamed "Mr. TNA" at one point.

Sting and Angle were big names (because of what they accomplished prior) but AJ was TNA through and through. He put both himself and that company on the map with his time there.

Re: NJPW stars possibly heading to WWE

He was a featured guy to be sure, and absolutely was a guy they leaned on. But, let's be fair, here, he was never their #1 guy to me(as far as push, and how they were featured, not as far as ability). AJ Styles was absolutely the "heart and soul" of TNA and exemplified the old X Division, but I don't think he was ever their "top star".

That's not to take anything away from him. He's amazing in the ring. And in the WWE world, guys like the Undertaker, Triple H, and Jericho have never really been THE top star. It was Austin, The Rock, and Cena.

The early 2000's he was TNA, simple as that. His later TNA world title run only solidified that.

I never watched during the weekly ppv days, but from what I have seen, and the impression I had of it at the time, was that it was the Jeff Jarrett show. AJ was a big part of it, but the show revolved around Jarrett.

Stop. We get it. You aren't a very big wrestling fan. AJ Styles is, and will continue to be TNA. I'd say 75% of WWE fans, causal and hardcore combined know at least who AJ Styles is. And that he's great. The rumble is in Orlando, and the road to mania is filled with more than casual crowds. He'll have no problem getting over.

There were periods when it was the Jarrett/Angle show, and then the Main Event Mafia, and then Hogan/Bishoff came in, but Styles was a top crowd favorite before, during and after all that mediocre mess.

Alright, enough of the back and forth about AJ.
