Rookie Center Leads Bearcats to Victory
"Asrangue Souleymane, the rookie center for Cincy got his first career double-double in the win."
Friday January 28th, 2005
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Asrangue Souleymane grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 15 points as the Bearcats got their seventh straight win and sixth conference win over the South Florida Bulls last night 98-69. Cincinnati had five players in double figures in scoring, two of which came off the bench. Vincent Banks led all scorers with 18 points in the win.

Eric Hicks slams the ball, he finished with 10 points and 9 boards.

Cincinnati Bearcats Player Stats

Vincent Banks scored 18 points off the bench, while Eric Hicks added another 10. Together the whole Bearcat bench had 48 points, about half the teams total points. With the win the Bearcats have won 19 of their first 20 games, thats a winning percentage of 95%. It should continue at least one more game as Cincinnati will face the Houston Cougars next, a team that is in the bottom half of the C-USA standings. After that the Cats have a tough game against Louisville at Freedom Hall.

NCAA Leaders
Saturday January 29th, 2005
The Cincinnati Enquirer

(As of 1/29/05)

Points Per Game - Francisco Garcia, Junior, Louisville - 22.9
Assists Per Game - Mike Slattery, Senior, Delaware - 8.6
Rebounds Per Game - Odartey Blankson, Senior, UNLV - 13.5
Steals Per Game - Jihad Muhammad, Junior, Cincinnati - 2.9
Blocks Per Game - Will Blalock, Sophomore, Iowa State - 3.7
Field Goal Percentage - Jesse Smith, Senior, Idaho State - 62.8%
Three Point Percentage - Aaron Miles, Senior, Kansas - 57.6%
Three Pointers Made - Nick Williams, Senior, Cincinnati - 62

It would be nice to have one player on your team to lead all NCAA teams in a single catergory, but to have two is incredible. Cincinnati has the NCAA leaders in both three pointers made, and steals per game. Muhammad has been great on defense all season, and with an average of three steals a game, coach Huggins is gifted to have him as his starting guard. Nick Williams barely edged out Kansas guard Aaron Miles in three's made, Williams has 62, Miles has 60. Williams and Muhammad are together, one of the most dangerous backcourts in the NCAA, they can shoot well, pass well and are both great on defense.

Houston, We Have a Problem
"The Houston Cougars upseted the Bearcats on their own court Saturday night 85-75."
Sunday January 30th, 2005
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Awful, just awful. Those were the only words out of coach Huggins mouth last night after a heartbreaking loss to Houston. Andre Owens, the Cougars senior guard scored 30 points on the Bearcats. Houston was ahead by 14 at one point in the game. "This was the first time I've seen so many fans leave early at one of our games." Muhammad said after the loss.

Houston guard Andre Owens dunks the ball.

Houston dominated the glass, everytime they missed a shot, they got the offensive board and made the easy layup. Cincinnati also was in foul trouble all night, James White and Jihad Muhammad both sat most of the first half. The Cougar guards were just to much to handle. With defensive star Jihad Muhammad on the bench, point guard Andre Owens took the game over making buckets all over the court. Next up for the Cats is a trip to Freedom Hall to take on the #11 Louisville Cardinals.

Ouch, tough loss to Houston. They beat me when I was playing with LSU, mostly because of Andre Owens - dude is nasty.

Marquette is having an average season, I see.. Looks like it'll come down to you and the Cardinals in the C-USA.

Keep it up.

Yeah, I think the Cardinals are a tad bit better than I am, maybe if I'm lucky they will get knocked out early so I dont have to play them in the C-USA Tourney for the title.

They should be better than they are in real life, everytime I look at my schedule and see them coming up, I get more excited to play them. Banks and Carney will be a handful though. I hope I win...

Re: Cincinnati Bearcats Legacy (CH2K5)

Great legacy! I too play a legacy on AA default sliders with Louisville. I think defeault AA is great except for the human 3's. I am having a hard time putting up any kind of consistent percentages and Louisville has a couple of nice shooters. I am near the bottom of the NCAA right now averaging 28% from beyond the line. I am debating bumping up this slider and only this slider.

What have you found... are you happy with the 3's?
