Re: Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 06)

#5 Miami @ Temple
Lincoln Financial Field
Philadelphia, PA
October 15th, 2005

Same old Temple; The Myth strikes again

PHILADELPHIA, PA- The only difference now is destroying Temple doesn't count as a conference win.

The Hurricanes showed flashes of their early 2000s dominance, scoring in every aspect of the game in their 56-9 embarassment of the pitiful Owls.

Kyle Wright played two and a half quarters, and was 10-18 for 154 yards, 3 TDs. Devin Hester was Miami's leading rusher, gaining 95 yards on 4 carries, scoring a 61 yard TD. He also returned two punts for TDs--for the second straight game. You would think teams would start to get the hint. Lance Leggett caught 4 passes for 99 yards and 2 TDs.

Temple's QB Mike McGann was 12-24 for 133 yards and pair of INTs. He was also Temple's leading rusher, gaining 21 yards on 7 carries. Anthony Martinez led them in receiving, catching 3 passes for 26 yards.

Due to dominating time of possession, the defensive stats were on the low side for Miami. Thomas Carroll had 6 tackles and a sack. Both Williams registered 5 tackles. DE Bryan Pata had an interception that he rumbled in for a TD, and FS Anthony Reddick added another pick. Ray Lamb led Temple with 7 tackles, followed by 6 from Adam Fichter. The Owls didn't have any sacks or interceptions.

Things pick up next week, as 6-0, 7th-ranked Georgia Tech comes into the Orange Bowl.

#7 Georgia Tech @ #5 Miami
Orange Bowl
Coral Gables, FL
October 22nd, 2005

Hurricanes blow past Yellow Jackets with 4th quarter surge

CORAL GABLES, FL- Slowly but surely, the swagger is returning to the University of Miami.

Thanks to an incredible two touchdowns in nine seconds by Devin Hester late in the fourth quarter, the 5th-ranked Hurricanes blew open a somewhat close game, sending #7 Georgia Tech away with a 37-7 rout.

Another key turning point in the game was Miami stopping the Jackets in the 2nd quarter on four consecutive plays from the one yard line with the Hurricanes only leading 6-0.

In the fourth with UM up 23-7, Hester returned a punt 64 yards for a score--his fifth PR TD in the last three games. After a holding penalty, on Tech's first play afterwards, Bryan Pata forced QB Reggie Ball to fumble, and Hester blazed in from his corner position, scooped the ball up and stepped into the endzone from two yards out.

Kyle Wright had a mediocre day, going only 8-19, for 138 yards, two TDs and an INT. Tyrone Moss led UM in rushing with 82 yards on 15 carries. Ryan Moore caught five passes for 81 yards and a TD, while TE Greg Olsen added 4 for 63 yards and the other TD.

Overall for GT, Ball was 13-22 for 179 yards but 3 turnovers, including two INTs. The Canes shut down the Tech ground game, as All-ACC RB P.J. Daniels could only manage 30 yards on 18 carries. He scored a TD. All-ACC wideout Calvin Daniels did contribute, catching five passes for 90 yards.

Leon Williams and Orien Harris each had six tackles for the Hurricanes. Bryan Pata was in Tech's backfield all night, registering three sacks, along with the forced fumble that Hester scored on. Safeties Anthony Reddick and Greg Threat each had a pick. CB Reuben Houston had 7 tackles for Tech. Their other corner Jamal Lewis intercepted Wright in the 3rd quarter.

The Hurricanes have revenge on their mind next week, as North Carolina comes down to the Orange Bowl. The Tar Heels beat Miami 31-28 last year in Chapel Hill.

Re: Miami Hurricanes (NCAA 06)

Looks like you may be going to a BCS bowl if you keep it up.

What's ND's record and how are Matt Shelton and Anthony Fasano doing? They got RAN by USC last week.

Also, GT is playing well as a surprise ACC team.
