The Ravens' Nest
Week One Preview
Volume 1, Issue 4

Ravens' Keys to the Game

1. Marvin Harrison is one of those receivers that can carve us up all day if we let him. We need to be very physical with him, making sure we bump him every play.

2. Make Dwight Freeney run around all day. Get outside the pocket and force him to chase.

3. Stop Peyton Manning and make them win by running. We'll take our chances.

Key Matchups
1. Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle vs. Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne
2. Jonathan Ogden vs. Dwight Freeney
3. Ray Lewis vs. Edgerrin James

Week One AFC North Matchups

Bengals @ Browns- The battle for Ohio gets off to an early start in 2005.

Titans @ Steelers- Two old rivals face off as Ben Roethlisberger tries to avoid a sophomore slump.

Game of the Week

Colts @ Ravens- Offense vs. Defense in its purest form.

Monday Night Football

Eagles @ Falcons- Two of the game's biggest playmakers--Terrell Owens and Michael Vick--get a chance to shine in a rematch of last year's NFC Championship Game.

Boller sparkles in season opener; D clamps down on Indy

BALTIMORE, MD- Sure, it's the Indianapolis Colts defense, but NO ONE expected this.

Kyle Boller was dominant, completing 18 of 22 passes for a solid 206 yards with a touchdown pass and no interceptions, and the Ravens D stopped two late drives by Peyton Manning, preserving a season opening 20-14 win on national TV, Sunday Night Football.

The Ravens' offense was clicking on all cylinders, as Jamal Lewis--looking to put his troubled offseason behind him--churned for 160 yards on 33 carries. He scored a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. He added 21 yards on three receptions. New Raven Derrick Mason caught six passes for 81 yards and his first TD as a Raven. Rookie WR Mark Clayton was solid in his pro debut, catching five passes for 60 yards.

The best offense in football had trouble getting going, as Peyton Manning was pressured all night, getting sacked three times. He was 13-29 passing for only 161 yards. He threw two touchdowns and was intercepted once. The Colts abandoned their running game early, and Edgerrin James had only 18 yards on the ground. Marvin Harrison led Indy in receptions with five (for 42 yards), and Reggie Wayne led them in yards with 65 (on 4 catches).

Ray Lewis had a monstrous start to the 2005 campaign, as he seemed invigorated in the 4-3 defense. Ray Ray had 12 tackles and a sack. Anthony Weaver also had a sack, and new cornerback Samari Rolle made a big impact with a sack and an interception.

Rob Morris was all over the field for the Colts with a whopping 16 tackles. Bob Sanders had nine, and Mike Doss had 7. OLB David Thornton had Indy's only sack, as Baltimore LT Jon Ogden clamped down on Dwight Freeney. Freeney had only tackle all game.

The Ravens have their road opener next week, taking on former division rival Tennessee.

Re: Baltimore Ravens

Wooo, nice win.

Surprising to see Boller do that well.

Re: Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens' Nest
Week Two Preview
Volume 1, Issue 6

Ravens' Keys to the Game

1. Steve McNair has to be pressured. Maybe then we can force him to make mistakes.

2. I like Jamal Lewis's chances against their defensive line. Let's play some smash mouth football.

3. We're going to have to keep Keith Bulluck occupied. Our gameplan should be to expose him in coverage, using a lot of play action to keep him off guard.

Key Matchups
1. Jamal Lewis vs. Keith Bulluck
2. Derrick Mason vs. Adam Jones

Week Two AFC North Matchups

Vikings (0-1) @ Bengals (1-0)- The Bengals look to continue their return to respectability with a fast start vs. Minnesota.

Steelers (0-1) @ Texans (0-1)- The Steelers have already matched last year's loss total, and the Texans are a team on the rise.

Browns (0-1) @ Packers (1-0)- Even though the Browns' receivers can take advantage of Green Bay's secondary, it's hard to see the Packers losing to Cleveland at home.

Game of the Week

Patriots (1-0) @ Panthers (1-0)- In a rematch of Super Bowl XXXVIII, the Panthers seek vengeance.

Monday Night Football

Redskins (1-0) @ Cowboys (0-1)- The old rivalry is renewed. No love lost here.
