Defenses Collide in Jaguar Victory

Week 10
ALLTEL Stadium

In what was penciled in as "The Game of the Week" full of defensive action, was just what the title suggested. The Jacksonville Jaguars' talented defensive line played well against the Ravens, as Baltimore's defensive line, linebacker corps, and secondary faired well against the Jags' offense.

The defensive line of Jacksonville limited a talented Jamal Lewis to 103 rushing yards, and while they haven't allowed a 100 yard rusher since week five against the Bengals, they'll take the 103 yards any day by Lewis.

Meanwhile, their secondary flourished, as Baltimore scored zero passing touchdowns and could only manage just 167 passing yards.

Byron Leftwich led the offense with 15 completions for 185 yards and 2 TDs - both to tight end, Matt Jones for 66 yards, total.

Coming of a 100 yard rushing game in week 9, Fred Taylor struggled to rush against the likes of Terrell Suggs, Ray Lewis, and Peter Boulware, rushing 26 times for just 52 yards.

His backups were not reliable either.

Ciatrick Fason, Adimchinobe Echemandu, and Alvin Pearman ran 4 times for a total of 12 yards.

Fason did make up for it, leading his team with 3 receptions for 30 yards.

Kicker Josh Scobee amazed fans with his powerful leg on a 56 yard field goal, but strangley, he missed a 26 and 35 yarder, has head coach, Jack Del Rio, scratched his head in disbelief.

Ray Lewis led all tacklers with 8 tackles, followed by Peter Boulware with 7.

I'm pretty sure you mean Terrell Owens, not Terrell Davis for Horse Trailer.

Good win over Baltimore.

Jaguars' Keys to a Win
-Steve McNair scares us. He can torch a defense any week. Make sure our corners are ready.
-Let's run a lot of zone coverages in this game. If we can get enought pressure, we can force them to make mistakes
-Establish the run. We need to wear them down between the tackles to be effective.

Jaguars' Plays to a Win
Offense: HB Counters
Offense: Crossing Patterns
Defense: Zone Man

Re: The JagZone: Jacksonville Jaguars [Madden '06]

Sunday: Number 20, 2005
Volume 1: Issue 47
Nashville, Tennessee

Close Game Leads to Jag Victory, 26-24

Week 11
The Coliseum

Jacksonville handled Tennesse for three quarters, taking a a 23-10 lead by the start of the fourth quarter. But as fans of the Titans began to leave, Tennessee suddenly picked up momentum that sparked two touchdowns scored in just 2 minutes.

With just about six minutes left to play, the Titans were held to a 3rd and 12 situation. However, Steve McNair threw a screen play to Drew Bennett, who broke a Bobby Taylor tackle, Donovin Darius Tackle, and Rashean Mathis tackle for an 83 yard touchdown. They successfully scored the two point converson to cut the deficit to 26-18.

When Jacksonville got the ball back with awful field position thanks to a holding penalty, the Titans forced a Fred Taylor fumble in the Jaguars' thirty.

They took advantage of it by scoring on a 24 yard touchdown pass from Steve McNair to Courtney Roby. This time around, however, the Jaguars were able to hold the Titans to a faild 2 point conversion attempt.

Tennesse elected to kick the ball of the Jags, rather than attempting an onside kick, with 2:07 left during regulation. Fred Taylor ran with magic, breaking tackles left and right for a hard earned 12 yards as the Jaguars ran from there, running the clock down by way of Taylor.

Fred Taylor ran for 100 yards for just the second time this season. He had 29 carries. His backup, Ciatrick Fason, scored his first rushing touchdown as a Jaguar on a 24 yard run. He had 28 rushing yards for the game.

Byron Leftwich completed 15 of 22 passes for 217 yards and a TD, finding Jimmy Smith 5 times for 66 yards and a TD.

The converted linebacker to defensive end, Tony Gilbert, sacked Steve McNair 2 times, registering 3 tackles and a forced fumble. Thus far into the season, he has an NFL high, 15 sacks. With 6 weeks remaining in the season, Gilbert has realistic shot of breaking the season sack record of 22.5 set by Michael Strahan.

McNair threw 276 yards for the Titans, completing 13 of 19 passes for 3 TDs and an INT. He found Drew Bennett 4 times for 117 yards and 2 TDs as well as Tyron Calico 6 times for 78 yards.

Travis Henry was held to 46 rushing yards on 17 carries.

Rookie saftey, Gerald Sensabaugh, recorded his first interception for the Jaguars.

Jaguars' Keys to a Win
-Josh McCown doesn't scare us at all. He's not very talented, and he's all over the place when they throw the ball. Pressure = Turnovers.
-We can win this game on defense. Our defensive line is really good and their offensive line is less than impressive. Let's get penetration and see what we can make happen.
-Make Bertrand Berry run around all day. Get outside of the pocket and force him to chase.

Jaguars' Plays to a Win

Offense: Crossing Patterns
Defense: Mid Rushes
