Jaguars' Notes

-OL- Mike Pearson starts his first game of this season.

Jaguars' Keys to a Win
-Stop David Carr and make them win by running. We'll take our chances.
-Andre Johnson is one of those receivers that can carve us up all day if we let him. We need to be very physical with him, making sure we bump him every play.
-Their defensive line is better than our offensive line. To establish our offensive presence, we MUST win the battle in the trenches. If we get the upper hand, the game is ours to lose.

Jaguars' Plays to a Win
Offense: PA Rollouts
Offense: HB Screens

It sucks that Garrard got hurt right after you acquired Terrance Copper, I was hoping to see an ECU to ECU connection. Maybe in the preseason

Nealy Perfect Offense Leads to 34-27

Week 9
ALLTEL Stadium

After 8 weeks of football action, Fred Taylor finally achieved 100 yards rushing in a nearly perfect offensive game against the Texans. Taylor ran 21 times to register 106 rushing yards.

The Jaguars used a rushing attack in the second half, a complete 180 from their first half mentality. In the first half, Byron completed long bombs to Matt Jones and Reggie Williams, as the Jaguars led 24-20 at the half. The half was pure entertainment, particularly the second quarter in which the Texans scored all twenty points in that quarter, and the Jags added 17 to their 7 points from the first quarter.

Leftwich finished strong, going 12 of 19 for 4 TDs and an INT. He found Reggie Williams 3 times for 61 yards and a TD, Matt Jones 2 times for 94 yards and 2 TDs, and Jimmy Smith 3 times for 27 yards.

Chad Owens also caught an eight yard TD reception.

The Jaguars' defense was key, as they allowed just 45 Domanick Davis rushing yards. However, they allowed Carr to throw 10 completions for 254 yards and 3 TDs, including a 60 yard TD pass to Andre Johnson.

Ciatrick Fason was solid, rushing 9 times for 23 yards, as well as catching the game sealing onside kick attempt by the Texans with one minute left.

Scoring

  • 1st: JAX; Matt Jones - 50 yard TD reception from Byron Leftwich (XP Good)
  • 2nd: JAX; Reggie Williams - 43 yard TD pass from Byron Leftwich (XP Good)

Great win, your schedule is wacky, back to back games against Houston after the bye.

Jaguars' Keys to a Win
-It would be nice to see Peter Boulware get worn down. Time of possession is key in the game.
-The last thing we need to deal with is our quarterback being under pressure all day long. We have to contain Terrell Suggs for four quarters.
-A guy like Ed Reed can chang a game. See if we can wear him down by running at him.

Jaguars' Plays to a Win
Offense: Fake Tosses
Offense: Quck Tosses
Defense: Blitzes
