Re: Boston College Eagles(NCAA 07)
Eagles Keep Rolling; Streak up to 7
After the demoralizing lost to Clemson, the Boston College head coach, Gregory Callaghan, issued a statement saying his defensive backs needed to play better, and Matt Ryan needed to lead this offense if they wanted to have any chance to compete. Eight weeks, seven games, later and the Eagles find themselves napping at the heels of Miami and Clemson for one of those top two spots in the ACC.
This game was against ACC sleeper Wake Forest(6-2) who game in looking for a big win to add to their bowl resume. The Eagles, however, weren't in any mood to let that happen. "We're in a stretch right now of teams that we're supposed to beat," Captain Brian Toal said after the game. "We're not ready to throw away our chances at an ACC title quite yet by being the victim of an upset."
One player who has responded to Coach Callaghan's call-out in a big way is star safety Jamie Silva. In the stretch of six games since their loss against Clemson, up to this game against Wake, Silva had 7 interceptions. He added two more, including one he ran back for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter to start the scoring for Boston College, during the game against Wake. "He's been incredibly impressive," Callaghan said. "He's really stepped up in a big way the past few weeks."
Ryan and Gonzalez hooked up for a 39-yard touchdown pass off a beautiful play-action fake(he was WIDE open), Andre Callender added a 4-yard touchdown run, and one fans letters of "Where are the First-and-Toal carries?" were answered, as Brian Toal scored his first touchdown of the season on a 2-yard carry.
