Let's Go Red Sox (MLB 2K7 Xbox 360)

Sorry to all you followers of my Devil Rays' franchise, but I have succumbed to what I feared, playing with my favorite team, the Boston Red Sox. With the AL East heating up, the post-trade deadline roster update, and my finding of NJPapi's new slider set, I cannot resist.

Console: Xbox 360
Game: Major League Baseball 2K7
Difficulty: Custom
Sliders: NJPapi's- Great slider set that cuts down on HR totals!
Rosters: Post trade-deadline roster update (Gagne plays for the Sox)

The slider set excites me because the main reason I usually do not play with the Red Sox is because I usually blast like 100-150 HRs a year with Manny an Ortiz. These sliders, which I have been experimenting lately, cut down on homers.

Also, I will not win every game. I like a challenge, just like with my Devil Rays dynasty, although I will probably win more than in my Rays one.

2007 Boston Red Sox Preview

Boston, MA (AP)- With the offseason trade to get Eric Gagne (I know in real life the Sox just got him, but I am using the post-trade deadline roster update), the Red Sox add another great reliever to their bullpen along sides of greats Papelbon and Timlin. Let's look at the preview!

Starting Pitching: This was a question mark last year as this unit really struggled. This year the unit should improve. With Schilling and Beckett anchoring this unit, the Red Sox have two great aces. Then comes Dausuke Matsuzaka. Dice-K, a rookie lefty from Japan, should also be able to produce, but if he does not, the Red Sox starters could be in for a struggle. Tim Wakefield will be the 4th starter, a veteran knuckleballer. The 5th spot in the roatation will probably go to Julian Tavarez, but this is not for sure.

Relief Pitching: The bullpen should be able to hold preserve leads this year, unlike last year. 2nd year player Jonathan Papelbon will be the closer and should have a great year. Veteran setup man Mike Timlin should perofrm well too. Hideki Okajima, a rookie out of Japan, has the potential to be great, but has not proved that on the Major League Level. Eric Gagne, a great offseason grab, should also perform great. Javier Lopez, a lefty specialist, should be able to shut down left-handed batters in tight games. The bullpen should shine this year for the Red Sox.

Catchers: Veteran Jason Varitek is the obvious starter. He had a down year last year, but should recover nicely. His age is starting to show, though, so he may not play as many games as in the past.

Infielders: The Red Sox have several great infielders by the likes of 1st baseman Kevin Youkilis, 3rd baseman Mike Lowell, and shortstop Julio Lugo. Rookie 2nd baseman Dustin Pedroria has great potential and will get the starting job to begin the season. However, if Pedroria doesn't perform, Francona will turn to Alex Cora, another young Red Sox prospect. Eric Hinske completes this talented group. The infield should play fantastic defense.

Outfielders: This group includes superstar slugger Manny Ramirez, who is primed for another great year. J.D. Drew, another great offseason acquisition, will start at right field. Coco Crisp will showcase his great defense as he mans centerfield.

Designated Hitter: Here lies one of the best sluggers in baseball, David Ortiz. Big Papi should have a monster year at the DH spot.

Yeah, I was starting to get tired of MLB 2K7 until I discovered NJPapi's sliders. They make the game so much more realistic. Thank you for following!

Well, my Devil Rays one is defintely over now. I was planning on still occasionally playing it still, but I accidently saved over it with my Red Sox one.

Game 2 of 162

Boston Red Sox (1-0) @ Kansas City Royals (0-1)

We just couldn't hit at all. Beckett pitched pretty well, but it's hard to win when we put 0 up on the scoreboard. Perez struck out 12 in his season debut.

Game 3 of 162

Series: Game 3 of 3

Boston Red Sox (1-1) @ Kansas City Royals (1-1)

Dice-K was not good in his major league debut. He lasted just 2 2/3 inning and gave up 6 runs (5 earned). The Red Sox bats showed bits of life in the forth as the Red Sox scored 3 runs on 5 hits in that inning.
