Indians Get Off To Fast Start In April!
One week into the 2008 season the Indians had a 4-3 record. That would soon change into a 16-4 record as the indians won 12 out of 13 including an impressive 10 game winning streak. The Indian have came back to Earth for the last seven games at the end of April going 3-4. They have seen their league leading batting average drop from .375 down to .350 which is still the league best but just shows how they have struggled at the plate recently.

The Indians took 3 out of four against the Yankees which included back-to-back-to-back blown saves by the Yankees closer Mariano Rivera. The Indians would win one of those in the 9th with a walk off homerun by David Delluchi. The next night the Indians lost in 14 innings. Sunday afternoon saw Ryan Garko (hitting just .250)pinch it in the 11th and hit a walk off three run homer. The Indians how to keep up the success they have had in April.

Hafner's Big Day is All For Nothing.

Jake Westbrook came into todays game with a perfect 4-0 record and looking to go 5-0 in April. The day started out just right for the Tribe as Travis Hafner gave the Indians a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first with his first of two homeruns. In the bottom of the third Hafner had another chance to do damage with runners on first and second with one out but grounded into a double play. In the top of the fourth the Mariners were able to string together a couple of hits to tie it at 2. In the top of the fifth Jake was charged with 4 runs before exciting the game and handing the ball over to Aaron Laffey. Laffey continued to excell out of the bullpen going the last 4 1/3 innings giving up just 3 hits leading some to wonder if he will take over for the struggling Cliff Lee. Travis Hafner added an rbi single in the 5th and then in the 8th hit a solo shot to give him four rbi's on the day. The Tribe tried to rally in the 9th getting runner on first but even with Grady's one out double the Tribe fell 6-4 to the Seattle Mariners. The Tribe will look to avoid being swept in the series finale tommorrow. The Indians end the month of April with a 19-9 record.

Indians Avoid Sweep

The Indians were led by a strong pitching performance from Paul Byrd who pitched 8 innings giving up 2 earned runs. Cha Seung Baek was charged with the lost as he went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs. The Indians held a slim 2-1 lead going in to the bottom of the 7th where they scored 3 times led by David Dellucci's 2 RBI Triple. Joe Borwoski recorded his 4th save of the season.
