Re: Lan's Boston Bruins (NHL 09)

LeCavalier Makes Himself at Home, Bs roll 4-1

LeCavalier netted a goal and an assist in the Bs 4-1 win.

Boston (AP) - Vinny LeCavalier made his home debut for the Bruins tonight and showed just why he was added to this Bruins squad netting 2 points in a 4-1 shellacking of the Maple Leafs. In the first period on a power play LeCavalier let a shot rip from the point which was redirected by the Bruins other in-season acquisition, Keith Tkachuk, to put the Bs on top 1-0. Later on in the game just 19 seconds into the 3rd period LeCavalier shelfed one over Toskala glove side on a beautiful feed from Savard to the cutting LeCavalier.

Tim Thomas had a relatively easy night in net denying 16 out of 17 shots. The Maple Leafs played rather undisciplined and weren't able to keep possession of the puck as shown by the pure dominance of the time on attack stat. They were also beat heavily on faceoffs. Their offense in general was just plain stagnant as it has been all season long.

The Bruins improved to 4-1-2 with the win, while the Leafs fell to 1-6-0. The Bs will square off with the 4-3-0 Thrashers in two days before heading off on a 3 game Canadian road trip.

Bruins Recall Sobotka

Boston (AP) -- The Bruins announced today that they have recalled forward Vladimir Sobotka from their AHL affiliate in Providence. Shane Hnidy was sent through waivers to clear salary room for Sobotka. St. Pierre was optioned back to Providence as well. Hnidy cleared waivers and will join up with the Providence Bruins. Hnidy has not dressed for Boston this season. St. Pierre appeared in two games and did not register a point.

Sobotka appeared in 48 games for the Bruins last season registering 7 points. He is expected to join the Bruins fourth line with Yelle and Thornton. Axelsson is going to move up back up to the 3rd line with Tkachuk and Kobasew.

LOLWUT. Please somehow punch virtual Darcy Regier. Insanley hard. And maybe kick him in the nuts a few hundred times. LMAO.

Good stuff Lan, great job on this. I gave Savard back to the B's in my Sabres dynasty. But seriously, horrible CPU trade.. haha

Haha, yeah that was an awful trade. The thing is if you go by the ratings it's not as bad as it would seem at least from the AI perspective. Arnott's like an 87 so the talent's there but yeah he is old as hell too. So many better players that could have gotten if they were going to trade Vanek. We'll see how it plays out for them though. They've been battling me back and forth for 1st place in the division so it hasn't been a complete disaster.

edit: On second look I Forgot Vanek was an 88. Yeah that's really terrible. a 24 year old winger that's rated 88 for a 33 year old center. Ouch.

Re: Lan's Boston Bruins (NHL 09)

B's Win a Nailbiter

Wideman buried the game winner with 48 seconds left in regulation.

Boston (AP) - What started out as a possible rout turned into quite the battle tonight between the Thrashers and the Bruins. The Bs got off to a quick start in the first period scoring the first two goals of the game. Phil Kessel netted the first on the power play on a feed from Vinny LeCavalier 6 minutes into the first period. Kessel was also on in on the second one, this time coming from Gretzky's office to feed Savard to put the Bs up 2-0.

Much like the first period, however, it was the Thrashers that owned the second period tying the score back up at 2. Kovalchuk deflected a Havelid point shot over the glove of Thomas. Todd White tied it up at 2-2 where it would stay all the way until the final minute of the 3rd period. Michael Ryder created a takeaway at center ice in the neutral zone and flew up the half wall. He spotted Dennis Wideman trailing delivered the pass to him between the tops of the faceoff circles. Wideman used the screen from the Thrashers' defenseman to bury the slap shot glove side high beating Lehtonen and the Thrashers with 48 seconds to go.

The Thrashers had a couple opportunities to tie it up with the goalie pulled but Axelsson eventually poked the puck away from a defenseman and wristed his first goal of the season into the empty net to seal the 4-2 victory.

The Bruins now head off to Canada for a 3 game Canadian road trip. First up is the 5-1-1 Edmonton Oilers. Tim Thomas will again get the call in net on the first night of this back-to-back with Fernandez likely to get the start against the Canucks.
