Re: Think Blue: A Los Angeles Dodgers Production (MLB 09 PS3)
Manny's blast in the 7th leads Dodgers to win.
Los Angeles was baffled early, rallied and won the game.
By: Kevin Rogers
Friday afternoon, Los Angeles took the trip east to take on division foe Arizona. Both teams were in the running for the NL West championship last season, as LA managed to hold off Arizona in the last week of the season.
Well the rivalry continued today, as the Diamondbacks and Dodgers had another great game in the desert.
Clayton Kershaw was on the mound for the Dodgers, and was roughed up a little bit in the 1st inning, has he allowed one run on 3 hits. "Finding my command was a challenge early on. They are good hitters, they made me pay for my mistakes" said Kershaw about the beginning of the game.
Arizona managed to put another run on the board in the 4th when Chris B. Young hit a solo moon shot off a hanging curveball by Kershaw.
Jon Garland was on the bump for Arizona, and he was pretty stingy early on. He did not give up a hit until the 5th inning, when Matt Kemp hit a shot up the middle right out of the reach of Stephen Drew. But then in the 7th, the Dodger bats could not be held down any more.
One great thing about the newly acquired Orlando Hudson his the patience that he brings. The O-Dogg realized that the bats were struggling, so he led off the 7th drawing a walk. He then advanced to second on a passed ball, that got by the catcher Chris Snyder. And in typical Dodger fashion, Andre Either, on his brithday, got the Dodgers on the board with an RBI single down the line.
Then Manny came up to the plate. First pitch he saw from reliever Tony Pena, he turned it around for 414 ft home run. Los Angeles managed to put across another run in the 7th and 8th. As they took a 5-3 lead into the 9th inning.
And that was when Jonathan Broxton came in and shut down the Diamondbacks. Recording his 2nd save of the season.
