Can anyone help me optimize my depth chart?

Currently have VT in a good spot. Have some really fast LBer across the board. Trying to figure out how I should set my RRE/RLE, and SUBLB. You can see that my LBers have a good OVR in the RRE/RLE. I did not capture my DTs, but they are nothing special. I also only have one real ROLB who isn't good so I didn't capture that.

Any tips for making the most out of these depth chart positions? I have been running the 3-3-5 more lately. Really wanting to try and get speed all over the field for some upcoming user vs user games.

I tend to use the best options in most cases, so would prioritise the SubLB as my best player available even if that is Safety. Then go best or fastest DE followed with Best or biggest DT as you still need a big boy holding line if they run or use draw plays. Speed on edges but would go DE over OLB if it is close for Strength difference. Speed at LB as they need to Pass Cover, Blitz or be good against Run. Also speed at CB over best Overall stats!

Start with focusing on a few defensive formations that you want to use. Then figure out what positions from the depth chart play in those formations (I think I've seen a list on these forums somewhere with who plays in each formation but you can also just go into practice mode). Then set your depth chart up accordingly.

For example I use the 3-3-5 mint, split and penny formations in standard downs against 11 personnel. I believe those formations use the standard LE, RE and DT positions from the depth chart. I like power rush DEs and a run stopping DT there. The linebacker that lines up like a DE in those formations is the LOLB so I put my best pass-rushing LBs there.

One thing I see is that I would consider starting G Ballance at both MLB and RRE especially if your defense prefers a speed rusher over a power rusher. Crummey would take over at MLB when Ballance is lined up as a pass rusher. Crummey appears to have comparable skills, so you don't appear to have much of a drop off at MLB while improving your pass rush.

I was thinking along the same lines. Except putting Crummey at RLE (my buddy likes to roll right with 95spd QB) since his STR is also 84.

On my actual depth chart I have my #2 FS starting at SS as well full time.
