Will we ever see an increase to the 70 player limit?

One of the most aggravating aspects of this game has been the roster limit of 70. In real life, D1 teams are allowed 85 scholarships. So, when the game ships, almost 20% of the roster is absent not counting walkons.

While that is annoying, it's REALLY annoying when recruiting when you have to cut a good amount of players to get to 70. This is especially annoying when you are a good team and you are cutting really solid players.

This problem somewhat made sense in the PS1 days when maybe there wasn't enough memory for the increased players, but in the days of 360 and PS3 it just makes very little sense and seems lazy.

EDIT: I know it's not coming this year, I'm just hopeful for 2013 and beyond.

I thought they increased the limit for Madden. If that is the case, I assume NCAA will get the increase next year.

Yea, but any given "travel" team is only allowed to carry 63 players. So 70 is really enough. I'd rather see them leave the rosters the same and add FCS.

Madden has 32 teams. IDK how big of an increase it was, but I'll say 5.

This is 160 players.

With 120 FBS Teams, a 5 player per team increase is 600 players. Plus Texas State, UMASS, USA, and UTSA adding another team.

I don't think it's necessary given the way this game handles personnel and injuries. Depth isn't really all that important so a 70 man roster is fine. It sucks having to cut people but chances are that guy you cut was going to just ride the bench and be irrelevant anyway.

It'd be nice to have 85 man rosters but I don't think it'd actually add much to the game.

There's a huge difference between increasing roster size and adding FCS teams. FCS teams require doubling the number of assets (uniforms, stadiums, mascots, etc) whereas roster size is just adding more numbers (but likely requiring more RAM used to track them in game).

If the expanded rosters were made into an important aspect of the game, forcing you to choose the travel roster, redo the depth chart, make player rotations important, etc, I think it would be fun. But if it was just increased rosters with no other changes, it would be way too much.

They should increase the player limit. I've had seasons where three of my four QBs were injured and three of my four RB's were injured (in one season two of them were out for the year before week 3). If the roster limit was increased to 80-85, EA should also include grey shirts, medical redshirts (is that right), spring practice, HS AA game, and add something to the walk-ons. I'd like to see 5-10 players a year try and walk-on and if they make the team allow them to earn a scholarship. EA could also do more to make you feel more like an AD. Have some type of point/monetary system where if certain things are accomplished you earn a certain amount of points/money to spend on things like upgrades to the stadium, additions to and/or new uniforms, or even add/change/remove vendors at the stadium. To me that would be a better experience but if Madden won't do it there is no way NCAA does it.

If they had an 85 man roster I'd probably feel more inept to playing with injuries on. But right now with injuries only happening to my RB or QB once a game I just can't do it.

He was unreasonable on both accounts, but either way, the NFL increase is nothing compared to NCAA.

First of all, it is 53 to 75 players and it is only for franchise. I doubt the standard rosters have more than 53. Either way, 22*32 = 704 and it is only for pre-season in franchise.

NCAA would be 70 to 85. 15*120 = 1800 + 4 more teams in the next few years. And those 85 man rosters would be for all modes.

I dont think we should get 25 scholarships every year. If i use all 25, that would mean i cut 55 players over 5 years. We should only get the number of scholarships that would be available to make it more realistic

Personally when I cut guys who are like 65 OVR and above, I wanna see them "transfer" or "walk-on" at other schools. It seems silly that they just get "deleted"
