You could score a touchdown and there was like ten seconds you could run around and celebrate.... also go to the mascot and celebrate. What year was that 2011?

How many of you guys rubbed in your opponents face? When I was playing online that season it was interesting to watch what people did.

I loved that!

Usually I only did that in offline dynasty when I was schooling the CPU though....


I think I led the nation in penalty yards bc of the spamming of the Heisman button.


Yet another great thing they took out eventually, like the academic suspensions (IMO)

I also like the high stepping on a break away play before you scored.

What about that "loud-meter"? Or the momentum shift thing?

I guess some things I don't miss too much, but they were kind of neat.

I remember hitting a player so hard, his helmet came off. There's a lot of things EA got rid of. Maybe the NCAA had some influence in that?

I remember that! The first time I saw it I was like "HOLY CRAP (except not that word) that was awesome!" Then it started to happen a lot and it wasn't as cool any more. If it happened once in a while it would be great. Only EA takes away little things like that, that people like about the game.

I heard they were the driving force behind getting rid of player suspensions because it displayed a negativity towards their overall product....

Because, you know, athletes never violate any ethical codes or get suspended while in college.

Maybe it doesn't happen as often as it did in the game, but I mean, there are several times now a days when helmets come off, especially when players aren't strapping their helmets. Imagine if the rule that a player has to leave for 1 play was in that game? Ohhhhhhhhhh

Yea exactly. College football can be negative, actually a lot of the time. EA was just showing the realism in the sport. It made it interesting. Get rid of that was not going to tell kids "oh college football is perfect and no one does bad things." they know better. Especially when all you hear on the news now a days is players accepting money, or other illegal things

It was totally random. Not based on any ratings. Just random. It's not like where players have an injury rating or might get hurt if they're a QB running the ball - from what I could tell, it was just the AI throwing darts. Where's the fun in that? There was nothing you could do about it.

Also, I imagine that it also may have been removed for the athletes' sake. Most people probably play with named rosters now. As a player, you don't want a video game to randomly suspend a player with your name and make you look bad. I'm sure that the different schools didn't appreciate it earlier.

I don't get how that would make someone look bad. It's just a game. It has no effect on that person in real life at all. Also who is gonna know besides you that a certain person was suspended in the game?

I think people were fine with the fact that it was random. If there was a rating for it then people would stay away from guys that would get in trouble. Unless of course you could see that he was gonna be awesome.

In no way does a guy on a video game getting in trouble for bad grades reflect that person in real life. At least not to me, and I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same way.

For the most part, things like that are random in real life. You never know what people are capable of doing. Yes, it could've been better if you could see the grades and behavior of kids coming out of high school but that is pretty indepth. Having random suspensions and things like that make the game more fun because it is more realistic. Things like that happen, maybe not as often as it did in the video game but it still made you go "oh great my best WR is out, now I might have to change up my gameplan" just like coaches do in real life.

Of course, I'm sure the NCAA doesn't want people to think getting suspended for off the field mishaps is a norm for college football players along with having tattoos so those aren't in anymore. I don't know why people wouldn't want a real game though. Suspensions for grades should be in still because it could teach kids that if you don't do well in school while playing your sport you won't play. Excessive celebrations and penalties for those celebrations should be in so it could teach student athletes it is wrong to taunt the opponent.

They could teach people a lot more about the right thing to do in college sports by having the "bad" in games rather only having good.

The suspensions were not totally random. There were ratings, but you would only see them during the recruiting process as I recall. You could see the player's discipline rating of "good" or "poor" for example when you were scouting.

I had a house rule where I would not sign any player that had a "poor" discipline rating. (really more of a philosophy than a house rule)

Plus, there were those points budgets that you would set in the offseason. Example: 60% recruiting, 30% training, 10% discipline.

I understand why they were removed from the game, but I wish they were still in there. It added another layer of realism and depth. And if you neglected the importance of discipline, then that NCAA meter would rise and you'd find yourself dealing with sanctions.

It was good in theory, but poorly implemented...you mean I have to allocate an amount of discipline points? Why can't I just have unlimited power to suspend and sit out players if I choose?

It was poorly implemented, but it wasn't around long enough to improve on it.

They werent totally random.....

If I recruited 2 players and one had a discipline level of A- and the other had a D+, it was pretty obvious who had a much greater chance of being suspended during the season....

It also gave me a greater degree of difficulty going through the ranks at a lower level school because I had to take chances more on those types of players and when they were suspended I had to improvise...

I just loved it because it provided another layer of something I had to focus on to succeed.
