Explanation of Sharkport

What exactly does a Sharkport do? I understand that it can be used for roster loading, but I was wondering if it could be used to somehow transfer the DYNASTY file from the PS2 to a PC. Even if it's possible, I doubt the file would be readable on the PC. I just think it would be cool to be able to keep track of all Dynasty seasons by transfering to the PC and loading into a database.

Anyone ever try anything like that?

With the next generation consoles, is this something that will be easier to do?

a sharkport transfers any files to your PC from your memory card, so yes you can backup your dynasty. It is not simply limited to rosters. You can transfer any game save to your memory card and transfer any game save back to your computer.

sure you could transfer the Dynasty file to the PC from the PS2, you can use it to back up your mem card, and move stuff you rarely use but want to keep to your PC, to free up mem card space.

However, I doubt it'll be totally easy to edit the files ever...that's more a thing dependent on who's making the game. It's possible someone might come up with a program that can crack the encryption or whatever, but i think we're more likely to see that with rosters than we would dynasty

Thanks. Yeah, I'm sure the file would look like a bunch of binary garbage, but if someone was able to crack the code it would make Dynasty stat keeping a lot easier.
