I've got it on 16:9 on my XBox, and haven't really noticed anything. It's certainly not like it was last year, and it is very playable.

I play on a widescreen with my xbox and it runs smoothly.

Yeah, but if you play on 4:3, you cannot see as much of the field including your receivers at the beginning of their routes. Besides this is a feature that EA implemented, not that we are trying to make happen. We shouldn't have to switch the screen ratio because of poor programming on EA's part.
