(I think most teams with a canon have an up-to-date canon not that old crap you see in some video games cough cough NCAA but I think it has mostly to do with ROTC and Artillery stuff correct me if i am wrong)

Iowa State has a cannon in RL, or atleast the did recently, also a fraternity house across from the stadium at my school (NWMSU D II) took it upon themselves to fire one off after a score.
