Now that I think about it. I believe that hardcore gamers may be the reason 2k5 sold so well. I was all about EA until I decided to spend the 19.99 out of fustration from NCAA & curiousity after seeing screens. It was all over from that point on..It was so hard for me to go back and play NCAA I gave it away. I believe alot of hardcore gamers sacrificed some glitch issues for realistic game play. I did....It would sale well

The money to pay all their programmers, artists, test people, etc vs the incoming revenue from a limited market is how. What you guys are talking about is akin to the war games on the PC, a very niche market. Yes games are made there and sold, often for little or no profit but not by large companies. Large companies want large profits and making niche games, which as bad as that sounds is what hardcore Madden would be, is not largely profitable.

As for ESPN 2k series, yeah it did sell better each year and as you guys said, to a hardcore type market, but the truth is even last year before EA secured the license there was talk of dropping the title because of lack of profits. Many speculated the $19.99 deal was the last-gasp attempt to "convert" enough people to keep making the series. For all we know that series may have died without the NFL license going to EA.

I'm with you guys, that hardcore-ultra-sim Madden would be a dream come true...i'm just telling you the reasons it will never happen and how EA would look at such an idea.

I don't know how you get how most serious gamers are human vs. human players. I like it, but most people that are serious play franchise only.

Being serious has nothing to do with whether you prefer to play human or cpu IMO. I play human vs human nearly exclusively but I'm not more "serious" because of it, I just like the fact you get a wider variety of play styles, although about 50% of em are the "moron-cheeser" play style, LOL.

Sorry, I didn't mean serious, I meant hardcore.

But at the end of the day, I enjoy playing Franchise a lot more than playing people.
