I think her husband wrote it and the school somehow forgot to renew the copyright. That may not even be close to the story but I dont feel like looking it at.

A little trivia: at one time, Sir Paul McCartney owned the rights to a ton of fight songs. I believe he might still own the rights to Georgia Tech, Wisconsin, and Rutger's fight songs. Once again, dont hold me to that as I dont feel like looking it up and confirming it.

Therefore, companies selling products with War Eagle being played must acquire licensing from Mrs. Allen as well as Auburn University. She probably refuses any money just so she can remain in control. I would do the same but, I would only allow it in video games and not in cheap keychains. Even as a Bama fan I wish the song was in the game. It just never feels right to get to the Iron Bowl each season and not hear Auburn's fight song.
