Theres no need to insult people you disagree with, people are not complaining about a stadium or mascot, they are complaining about a simple, 5 year-old feature that EA may now charge extra for

Re: EA is making us pay

Not surprised at all where this topic has gone and who is one each side, but just looking at the thread title, EA is not "making" us pay for anything.

Along with the War on Terror, the somewhat struggling economy and gays getting married, EA having a monopoly on the football gaming industry is right up there.

I expect a presidential address shortly after Madden is released. Word is Bush was a big fan of the 2K series.

It wouldn't be too bad if the Alts. weren't in current gen. but if you can buy the Xbox version for 50 and get alt jerseys but you get the 360 version for 60 and no alts its kinda weak. But if its extra content that the others don't have I'm cool with it.

EVEN IF IT IS JUST ONE TEAM DON'T DO IT - it all adds up.

If EA sells only 1 alt jersey per copy, at $2 each times 250,000 copies they just made a half a million dollars for content that has been in the game for years. Buying into this trend - EVEN FOR A SINGLE UNIFORM will ensure it continues and it will only continue to get worse.

SEND A MESSAGE that it is not OK to try and nickle and dime customers just because MS made an easy way for publishers to sell extra-content. It really isn't that big of a deal to do without this stuff is it (it won't work online anyway unless the people you play have also bought your teams extra uniforms). Only with poor sales will EA rethinks its stratagy of what does and doesn't constitues premium content. Otherwise buying just a single uniform opens the door to every EA game and every other publisher watching them and how they can take advantage of customers.

I don't know who in the hell, other than EA stock holders, would stand up for the richest game publisher in the world as if they are just out there doing their civic duty to make money. Making money is one thing - raping customers is another.Yes, EA will take more heat than every other publisher because they are the largest and they are leading the trends that other will follow.

Gamers, not publishers, will be the ones that ultimately decided what will and what won't constitutes premium downloads. Hold off this trend of companies trying to turn game content as premium content. It is one thing if a company like Bethesda spends time after the final game is complete developing pay content but to say features that have been in every game and available on release day are 'premium' is something else. Overcharging is also something gamers can regulate by not opening their wallets.

This year it is only uniforms - next it could be stadiums, bowl games or even teams. Not to mention how many bad implications this trend will have on other titles. Sure, these companies are out there to make money but at what point does that end if consumers won't come together and draw a line in the sand? It is far easier to stop a trend before it starts than try and repeal one that has already become standard before you realise how much it stinks.

Please, everyone, have some will power and don't think for a minute that just one doesn't make a difference. ONE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Thank you very much. However, I am more than capable of making my own decisions. Get used to it people. This is life. In most cases you will continue to get less while paying more.

Re: EA is making us pay

I think this thread has run it's course. We'll see what actually happens when the game is released and re-visit it then. Sound good? For now, this is locked.
