Momentum has added a new level of strategy for me

Here is my take on momentum. First off, it should not be a 'feature' of the game. Momentum is real and should automatically be built into the AI engine. If this truely is a simulation, it should have already been in the game. Also, it is not something you see, but is something you feel. Therefore, I do not know why you get to see who has the mometum on the screen.

With that said, people argue that it doesn't do anything. I've always had a problem with EA having features like this because its implementation is often blown way out of proportion. However, the momentum in this game is subtle, and I think that is a good thing.

The visiting team gets a bonus across the board with momentum on their side. I think HFA only used to reward the home team and never reward the visiting team with rating bonuses across the board. Not sure though.

That is good. Too bad they didn't apply that principle to jump the snap.

I guess that's true, but the only thing I really see as a visitor is the cancellation of the HFA when I am doing good. But kinda like tsp120 said, you can't really see momentum. Maybe it is there, I just don't get it. It doesn't seem like anything has been added, it just seems like HFA with a new name. That's not neccesarily bad because I like HFA. With momentum I would expect the hot team to get better and the down team stay the same or get worse, that was already in the game before. Maybe the momentum affects it larger as a visitor, but I haven't noticed, but I have probably only played 3 visiting games. My players increase about +5 when I'm really hot, but they did that in the past. This game does have more turnovers than I remember in the past in terms of fumbles, so maybe that is some of it.

I really notice a difference, especially when the other team has a full momentum bar. Everything just becomes so much more difficult for you. They fly to the ball faster, hit harder, the quarterback throws better, and the lines block better.

It does. I have been using the cover up button and its really helped to the point I didn't think it was bad until one game last night where I fumbled twice in the 4th quarter while using the cover up function. My backup running backs were in as I was winning but still ticked me off. Hopefully it was only an aberation.
