The good news is that the firmware info is included in your 360, the bad news is that the only way to see it is to open your console and look at the top of the drive itself. Probably not a good idea.

Re: Freezing problem on the 360: poll

My 360 was manufactured in April.

I had one DDE the first or second day I had NCAA. None since. No freezes. Did have a few of the freezes with Madden.

However, twice I've gotten a strange video glitch, like static on the screen. I detailed it in the 360 glitches thread.

BTW, How do you tell which drive your 360 has?

With all the disc errors I keep getting, I just want to say "THANK GOD FOR QUICK SAVE!"

Thanks coogrfn for the pic of the drives. I had seen them before for the regular Xbox, but not the 360.

Which is supposedly the best one? I've got the Samsung.

I can't say for certain, but the folks at the site I provided the link to seem to feel the Samsung is the most desirable (apparently the Phillips is relatively new, no one seems to have anything to say about it).

Yeah, it seems like it's just like with the regular xbox, the Samsung is the drive you want. I didn't even know there was a Phillips drive.

So, basically half the people are having freezing issues. What a joke. I haven't had any issues yet, but that's probably because I just haven't been playing it enough.

Re: Freezing problem on the 360: poll

I've yet to try another game after getting my first DDE, but did read a post elsewhere that someone said they cleaned their disc (even tho it had no apparent flaws) with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab and haven't had any problems since in about 20 games. So, I did that as well and will play a game tonight and see what happens.

As for the other suggestions I've seen, the one about letting the cutscenes play out sounds like it's having some success. However, I got the DDE and I let the cutscenes play, except when I'm on offense. I tried it on offense, but unless I pick my play with 20 seconds left on the playclock, I have no time to read the defense and snap the ball before getting called for delay of game.
