I know it's very common in real college football for freshmen to be red shirted. My question is how often are upperclassmen red shirted, if ever? I can't really think of any recently. In my dynasty, I was thinking about red shirting some of my sophomores, juniors and seniors...

Generally, upperclassmen are redshirted for medical reasons.

It is not as common with upperclassmen, sometimes a Juco gets RS when he joins the team. In my PS2 dynasty I have done it when I change a players position. Like if I move a Soph. FB to a OLB, WR to CB, or something like that.
