Are you sure momentum doesn't play a role? I realize the depth chart doesn't show increases/decreases, but momentum's built into the commentary and the game does have a meter. Not trying to be difficult, but where did you get this?

I got that from IGN.com...
in the review they were talking about the momentum meter and how it is different from the xbox and ps2 versions...
it has an affect on the crowd noise and thats it...
no in game player rating increases..

Re: how do you turn off momentum? (360 version)?

I can tell a huge difference between having 0 momentum and having +-5 momentum. It never shows on my depth chart, but there is a difference. When my my kicker starts a game with no momentum he's lucky to hit the 5 yrd line on a kickoff, but with a full bar in our favor he kicks them 5 deep in the EZ. That's the most easily quantifiable difference I have seen, but there are others: running backs breaking more tackles, defenders being in the right position more often than not.

Ah, I see where you got it -- thanks. IGN says "the crowd will get a bit more into the action and the players will act a bit more excited between plays, but it doesn't feel like momentum plays into gameplay." http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/719/719563p2.html I wonder if this has been confirmed.

They just said it doesnt feel like it plays into the game.

To me it definately feels like it makes a huge difference. If its late game and I got no MO my guys drop easy passes and the other team can run through their tackles like nothing.

My vote goes for it does effect gameplay even if not stats.

I don't remember exactly which video I saw this, but even the producers at EA/Tiburon said that the momentum meter gives up to +5 point ratings boost to the team with momentum, but does not take away any ratings points from the team without momentum because they did not want to penalize that team.
