Edit Other Players on Roster in Legend Mode?

I created a guy for Campus Legend though I guess this is a minor deal, but I was hoping to give him a certain jersey number but another guy on the team has it already. I couldn't find any option that'll let me change that guy's number so I can swap. I tried re-doing the whole process by first loading a different roster with the modified numbers (one that had names as well), then starting Campus Legend mode. Though the names stuck, the changed numbers were reverted. Does anyone know a fix for this?
