no 1080i, only 720p for PS3 ?

Maybe they announced their first part titles will be but there are already third party games out for the PS3 that are 1080, not to mention their own MLB the Show is 1080 also. I know the native resolution of the game is 720p, but does the game also support 1080i?

Hey guys, I'm almost positive if you have the update 1.82, the PS3 will upscale your new games too. Go to display settings for your PS3 and change it to 1080i and that should get your 720 only games displayed at 1080i if your tv doesn't support 720p.

Yes it is true. If you change your settings to whatever your TV or Projector supports then you just change it. But alot of games say that, you should run it at 720 because it looks or runs better at that frame rate. I have a INfocus 76 HD and HDMI projector and I can set it to 720,1080p, or 1080i. The PS3 will work at whatever I set my system to and it will play that frame rate.

Some TV's don't have 720p only 480i/p and 1080i. With those TV's (and I should know because I have one), a PS3 game that is 720p native will run at 480.

I tried playing Oblivion on my TV and it looked like crap. The actual PS3 game has to be 1080i compatible to run on 1080i because the PS3 as a machine will not upconvert the resolution.
