Worth buying for someone who doesn't know NCAA?

Living in the UK, I don't know anything about NCAA, having only really played Madden and NFL 2k5. My favourite was 2k5 by far, but I'm hearing so much good stuff about NCAA 08, so is it worth me getting if I don't know any teams/players etc? I'm already getting All-Pro Football 2k8 and will get Madden for the Wii.

I'd recommend the NCAA series. Can't speak for 08...cause it doesn't leak where I live but it has been a good series. I think its a better series than Madden. As for not knowing the players..play dyansty and sooner or later its all fake players anyway. As for not knowing the teams:

1. The game tells you who the rivals are. So you know who to hate.
2. You can get screwed over by the BCS system. Pick an SEC team and you can blame the damn yanks (see I'm reconnecting with your British heritage) if you run the table and get jobbed.

I would get APF or Madden if I was you.

If you don't have some sort of emotional connect with the NCAA series, a lot of the flaws would be a lot harder to overlook.

I'd definitely get this game, it's a great game even if you're not a hardcore NCAA'er.

You'll probably miss out on some a of the pageantry at first, but it's a great game so you'll enjoy it regardless.

If you loved 2K5, maybe you should just stick with APF2K8 at first.

I would definitely recommend it from what I'm hearing! I do think though that part (or most) of the attraction for a lot of us is we can connect alot more with our favorite college team than we can with any pro team. I'm 3 years away from going to college and I really feel like a part of my favorite university. The emotional, or whatever you want to call it, connection to the game is a big part for a lot of us. But, you should definitely get this game! Lol

If you enjoy playing football games in general and it sounds like you do than I would suggest you atleast give NCAA a try.
