They really dropped the ball with the playbooks

Great game, but aside from throwing in some specialty formations like the Wildcat and the Gator heavy, the games playbooks are very problematic.

First off is the lack of customization.

Then you throw in the fact that although there are now plenty of plays, alot of teams are running the same spread type offense so everyone has the same plays.

Most blatantly is the lack of certain types of plays which is insane on some levels.

There is not one single slot reciever screen in this game which is crazy. All of the Other WR screens are similar and end up in INTs half the tim. There are also no Wingback sweeps in the flexbone formations, which is crazy. The power running formations have been scrapped (has anyone found the power or maryland I formation?) which isnt as crazy as they are run less but still these formations are a big part of college football.

I know that some of the wingback sweeps never worked but if plays like the Jet sweep work why wouldnt this?

I love the gameplay, but it would be nice to use my playmaker WR in as many ways as possible.

I agree, the playbooks are not very good. (next gen, 360)

I'm still loving the game though.

I wouldn't say they are not very good. I think they are a pretty big upgrade from last year on the 360. I played against a team that ran some power running formations in my dynasty but i cant remember who now. Virginia Tech maybe? Hopefully for next year they add some bubble screens and tweak how all WR screens work because right now its kind of a problem.

Air force and the Option playbook have the wishbone.
Run balanced and Balanced have the Jumbo T and Power I
Va Tech has the Power I
Navy has the Full House, Wishbone, and Jumbo T

Just some of the ones I've found......

The playbooks are lacking and have been for a while. It alwats bothers me when teams like USC have the triple option in their playbook. This is an area that can definitely be worked on. I expected an upgrade with the next generation on playbooks but I actually feel like it was a downgrade from the PS2 and xbox versions.

I still like the game though!

Re: They really dropped the ball with the playbooks

I luckily found a playbook that I really like.

I have no problem running WR screens, I think they are 100xs better now that there are branched animations so you can't cut up field sooner. I have only seen 2 that were INT and the CB was sitting right infront of the guy so it was user error.

To me it seems like the CB is always sitting in front of the guy especially on man to man coverage against decent CBs

Re: They really dropped the ball with the playbooks

The DB screen AI is really bad in a realistic sense. If this game had the old Madden playmaker, it'd be a TD every time.

Hopefully they'll give us custom playbooks back.

And some damn off tackle plays.
