Couple quick recruiting questions

1) What does it mean when it says "not in top 3"..."not in top 5)..etc..Does that mean the recruit has narrowed their choices down and your not one of them? If this happens it means you should remove the prospect from your board cuz you have no chance of signing him right??

2) Has anyone ever signed a recruit who had given a soft verbal to another school...It seems like every recruit that I've seen give a soft verbal ended up signing with that team (even if I was #2 on the list)... So when the recruit gives a soft verbal to another shcool that means I shoud I just delete him from my board cuz i have no chance of signing him??

Not at all. It means he has narrowed it down to 8 (not in top 5) or 5 (not in top 3) and will be making a decision soon.

It more or less is a now or never situation. First, look at their interest; if you're way behind the top 3/5, don't waste points, but if you're bar is close, go for it. But be sure to throw some points; if you can, schedule a visit and offer a scholarship.

During the off-season I've stolen my fair share of recruits with the "soft commit" status. So there's always hope that you can get him until the recruit is fully committed.

Yea I've signed plenty in the off-season too...but during the season I've never signed a recruit that gave a soft verbal to another team.
