NCAA 08 sales thru Aug. 4th

Per spankdatazz's request here are the numbers thru 3 weeks for this year and the same period last year:

360
08 = 516,823
07 = 434,091
( + 82,732 )

PS3
08 = 107,173
07 = n/a

CG totals thru the first three weeks
08 = 623,996
07 = 434,091
( +189,905 )


ps2
08 = 258,316
07 = 640,758
( -382,442 )

Xbox
08 = 42,153
07 = 204,348

LG totals thru the first three weeks
08 = 300,469
07 = 845,106

It looks like a lot of the people who bought the last gen game last year are not moving up and buying the next gen game.

Something to the tune of 200,000?

Actually, sales are down 355,000 units.

Rgardless of the fact that Xbox 360/PS3 sales are up, its not going to make up for lost revenue on the PS2/Xbox. Interesting indeed.

EA is definitely taking a bath on last gen, no doubt about it. It will be interesting to see if this pattern is repeated with Madden.

I think plenty of casual fans probably just stuck with 07 on the PS2 and XBox.

Even if we assume that every additional cg sale = one less lg sale, EA is still down -354,462 units from the same period in 2006. I'm sure some of that is due to the perception that this year's ps2/xbox version is basically NCAA 2007.5. Even so, that's a huge dropoff.
