How do you increase your team prestige at each level?

I lost my first 3 bowl games with USF and still managed to get to 5*'s from 3*'s

YR1 8-5
YR2 11-2
YR3 11-2

Then I won the Nat'l title and I'm now a 6*

I have no idea how the star ratings work but it's fairly easy to move up

I went 7-5 during the regular season with Colorado State and lost my bowl game to Kansas State, ended up 7-6 for the year. My team dropped from 3 stars to 2 stars.

I've always assumed that your prestige was tied plain and simple to number of wins.

I have never done the search, but I would think there can only be so many teams at each rating, so I would think it would have to do with wins and ranking, and as your 1* improves, a higher ranked team must drop.
