The same way UF's Defense is a freaking 94 . H-Y-P-E.

Last year is over with. Ole Miss has better players on the team than State. Everybody but State fans know State lucked out on nearly every win. State may have the easiest schedule in the SEC this year and the odds are against you to win 6 during the regular season. You could pick State or Ole Miss to finish last in the West every year and it wouldn't make anyone crazy, they'd be right most of the time. Don't act like State is some powerhouse. Coach O gave Croom the game in a package, and you've beaten the worse Bama teams in years. That's not saying much.

Exactly. Ole Miss has a much better offense this year...and a slightly better defense. We have a coach that knows how to win, and finish a game. State caught some lucky breaks on those wins last year.

And I have seen a sport site that said Ole Miss could be the team to look out for. Predicted Nutt as the SEC Coach of the Year and picked Ole Miss either 4th or 3rd in the West...I say we tie for 4th and State finishes 6th this year.

From the outside looking in, I'd say this....

Ole Miss has the better skill players at WR, QB, and RB. BUT...Anthony Dixon is as good a back as there is in the SEC. Not flashy, but a bulldozer.

Miss. State has a MUCH MUCH better Defense...although Hardy and Jeria Perry are both very good. Derek Pegues is probably the best overall defender in the SEC.

Ole Miss has the better O line.

I don't think you can argue any of that and I plan on adjusting the ratings for each team accordingly.

I wouldn't argue it. I've said all along that State's defense is too low and Ole Miss is too high. Dixon is underrated on the game and I think Eason, our 4* HB from the same class as Dixon, is a little overrated at 86. He could end up being an 86 and then some during the season, but I'm not hyping him up. I've said Dixon should be the 2nd best player on State, and he isn't in the top 7 so it's screwed up. Pegues' SPD is listed at 91 where it was 97 last year. Screwed up again.

Another thing you can't argue, even though State came out on top, was State a better team than AU or Bama, or Kentucky for that matter? Nope. Ole Miss controlled the game up until some boneheaded moves, that weren't that bad, but they didn't work out, basically giving State the game. They won't be that lucky again. If Tubby loses to State again, he'll be heading out of town. State won some games last year, I'll give them that, but they are not that good of a team.

Re: Mississippi State To Low

I didn't come here to talk about why Miss St is better then Ole Miss.
I just think that Miss St should be a tad better. Everyone knows that a team that went 0-8 in the SEC should not be the 8th ranked team. If anything, State and Ole Miss should be the same.
Go to your local book store in the magazine section, pick up any of the football magazines and you will see something like this.
1)Auburn
2)LSU
3)Alabama
4)Miss St
5)Ole Miss
6)Arkansas
Go look. All of them like this.

I wasn't trying to start an arguement. I've said from the start that State's D and Overall was too low, the same with Pegues' speed and Dixon's rating. I have Lindy's and Athlon but I don't hinge on every word they write. Do you think they were smart enough last year to predict State would go to a bowl game? Nope. I think they're off on Ole Miss as well. Throwing a fit about it won't do any good. Realistically, State could very well go 0-8 in the SEC this year and they have one of the easiest conference schedules. One thing I can tell you about these pre-season magazines, the higher they pick State, the lower State finishes.
