It's not just as smiple as that, at least not on all.
I think the discs were made cheaper for 08.
My disc is perfect, no scratches, had the DDE error.
Started taking it out after each play, no difference.
Sometimes it plays, sometimes it doesnt.
Many people had this problem.

I have never gotten DDEs with any of my Xbox 360 games. If you've been getting them, then I'd honestly question either your quality of care your game discs, your Xbox 360 DVD-ROM drive, your 360's laser which you may want to consider cleaning, or all of the above.

EDIT: Well now that I remember, there were a batch of Serious Sam prints sent out back on the original Xbox that resulted in runtime errors due to bad manufacturing so maybe you got a copy of a bad bunch. But still, i've never had that problem with my 360.

Same here. No issues at all with 08.

I had to take it out each time last year. And I do it with NHL 08 now or I will get DDEs.

I take out all my games ever since I got DDEs when I didn't on '07. I don't think I had any last year.

What dkrause says is correct...don't start your 360 with a game in the drive and don't leave a game disc in your 360 when it's off. Do that and you won't get DDE's. If you still do, there is probably something wrong with your 360.

do people actually leave their disc in the drive when they turn off there console? I've always taken my games out when I'm done playing. I do it without even thinking. I did the same thing for the NES, SNES, Sega, and N-64 days with the cartridges, i never left them in either.

Its also not a good idea to move your console when you have a game in. good way to ruin you disc and/or disc drive.

The problem must be with only certain 360's because I've always left game disks in since the beginning and didn't have a DDE problem.
