OMT: Has player progression improved?

I have posted a similar thread in the madden forum seeing that both games have been lacking in this regard. I was wondering if player progression has been improved for the NCAA dynasty mode. In years past, progression seemed very random and sporadic. I know we've all recruited that 5-star RB who came in at an 84OVR, rushed for 1300 yards and 12 TDs while making 1st team all-conference and 1st team freshman all american only to be disappointed during the training mode. The All-American freshman sees a minimal training grade while our 4star RB who redshirted sees a 6 pt increase in OVR and is now the better player. Why does this happen? Is player progression tied into a hidden potential rating? Is it just random? Does it have much to do with the players actual performance at all? Just wondering if it has improved and if not how can it be improved. Thanks in advance.
