Re: Am I a dinosaur?

Ya'll are dying out but still going strong.

My buddy still plays NCAA on the ps2. D-Pad all the way.

Great stick (pad) skills.

He's ranked #2.

So there are still some of ya'll trucking along.

Re: Am I a dinosaur?

When I first got a PS2 I used the D-pad still. I just wasn't comfortable with the sticks at that time. I used the D-pad for racing games as well. Eventually I got better with the sticks and use them now. With the new juking system using the d-pad seems impractical.

Re: Am I a dinosaur?

I use the D-pad.

Grew up on NES, had a Genesis, then a PS One, then a PS2, and now a PS3. Have always used the D-pad.

Analog only for me. I can't even imagine playing with the D-Pad. It seems like it would be a major disadvantage, especially with the new wide open gameplay and control.

Re: Am I a dinosaur?

What was the first year left the left stick was available? I can't remember when I started using it. I'm thinking 06, but it seemed earlier than that. I guess I mean the first year that the controllers were set with left stick as the default.

Re: Am I a dinosaur?

I am an analog guy, despite the fact that I grew up in the NES era.

Can anyone imagine trying to do the old Contra code with an analog stick?

UP-UP-DOWN-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT-B-A-SELECT-START!!

Yea baby!!

Re: Am I a dinosaur?

The left stick slowly entered my gaming life.

First it was just ps2 hockey games. Then ps3 basketball and ps3 baseball.

Last year I made myself play NCAA with the left stick. Now it's second nature.

My last holdout was Pro Evolution Soccer but now I can't go back to the d pad.

Right stick is another story. I rarely use it. Maybe juking in NCAA but thats about it. I don't even use it to shoot in NHL 08. There's just something about the buttons.

Re: Am I a dinosaur?

ha ha... good topic, made me laugh cause it reminds me of my 59 yr old dad playing NHL 08 and trying to use the D-Pad to control his guy and instead he is just calling out line-change after line-change

So I show him the analog stick and explain that you have to use it to move, but after 30 seconds the magnetic force of the D-Pad sucks him right back.
