People have made some great points so far, so I'll only add this.
The BAD: The presentation - During the pre-game they talk about one player that's going to have an impact, yet the field is completely empty during the entire intro. The last gen games at lease show the player in question warming up on the field and even have them running out of the tunnel. I don't think it's too much to ask that they add something new or dynamic to this generations sports games considering that for the last few seasons the games have only regressed in this department. No refs or chain gang......Really?
For example:
Here's the St. Louis RAMS warming up before playing Carolina. Notice that the camera man is focused on Steven Jackson; it's at this point in the game someone could mention that Jackson is going to be a huge part of the offense today and that blah, blah, blah, blah he could have an impact on the games outcome. End the segment by saying "The kick off when we return" - cut to black screen for one second - return with the coin toss just as it is now, only show the coaches on the sideline or players on the field. BAM right into kick off.
See, I was one of those crazy thinking people a few years ago - when the 360 and then PS3 were announced - that thought these next generation machines were going to usher in an entire era of sports gaming. I imagined seeing team specific intros for the larger programs like
Clemson entering Death Valley by running down the hill or Notre Dame coming out of the locker room (which was in the game a few years ago!) before
running out of the tunnel to take a knee at the far endzone facing the student section.
None of this is even remotely in my mind now after seeing the first two/three entries on the PS3 and 360. But it is still an example of something that would greatly increase the importance of each game be it a Rivalry, Bowl or Conference match up.
