Hopefully Adam can give us the answer to this, but here are a couple of my guesses. As I said, they're only guesses so take them for what they're worth.

1. I imagine you need to win often at home.
2. I imagine you need to have a fairly large crowd. Even if you've won 20 in a row, if you play in an open air stadium in front of 6,000 people, I wouldn't think that'd be a difficult place to play.
3. In games that you play, maybe you need to pump of the crowd a lot. If you're constantly pumping up the crowd (thus making them louder), maybe that'd help move you up the list.

I decided to hit up the search button. There's a couple replies from Adam in this thread:

I think I had like a 180 game winning streak lol.

Re: Home field advantage?

Personally I like home field advantage but I thought the last gen 06 home field advantage was simply amazing. The screen shaking and the noise level was great.

Re: Home field advantage?

Speaking of crowds has there been any discussion about making stadium crowds realistic. When a school is averaging 15,000 fans yet every seat is full it just looks ridiculous. Once again, EA developers hard at work
