Is it possible to download patches to my friends 360 via my xbox live account?

I was trying to do this earlier and had problems. My friend doesn't have xbox live so he just gave me his hard drive so I could download the patches to it. Anyway, I put his HD in my 360. Naturally I couldn't log in to xbox live so I recovered my xbox live gamertag.

After downloading my gamertag and logging in I wasn't prompted for a patch. I think the 360 recognizes that my gamertag has the patch so I didn't get anything.

Is there any way to get these patches to his 360?

why not just have him create a free silver account and download it himself? or just create a dummy silver account to download the patch. you don't need gold for game updates.

check the xbox live web site. there is a way to download patches to your computer, burn them onto a CD-R and then install them on an xbox that way.

Yup just do this, hook the 360 up at his house to broadband.

The easiest solution is to just stop being friends with him. you shouldnt be friends with someone who doesnt have live anyway...
