A Court Case to Keep An Eye On: regarding exclusivity

For those who bemoan EA's exclusivity deal with the NFL and NCAA, there is a court case which could impact the deal (and all exclusivity deals). More info here.

While the story only mentions EA's NFL deal (and 2K's MLB deal), the court case would also have an impact on EA's NCAA deal.

not a chance. they would have to over turn a supreme court ruling. this could go down with baseball since the bargaining agreement is completely different than football.

basically the NFL is a corporation and the teams are subsidiary's. since the NFL is a corporation and the supreme court treats corpartions and their completely owned subsidiaries as single entities they can use conspiracy or antirust violations as arguing point.

this would be bad for alot of other companies if this happens. its a tall order to get that over turned.

it does seem unamerican that there is no competition as far as the video game market is concerned but that was the NFL and NCAA's call to have the companys bid. EA is just the company that won.

Its a looooong shot. Cuz they formed a monopoly but it wasnt a natural monoply. They didnt buy out the competition. They went deeper and crippled the competition when they purchased the NFL license. I for one would love to see Sega Sports and 2K make a comeback, but as of right now its just a prayer. Competiton means better games. W/O it EA can continue to make semi-crappy games and still make millions in sales just because there is nothing else out there. In turn, we as gamers/ customers suffer.
