Why should anyone run the option in NCAA 10?

gschwendt at NCAAStrategies:

"No. The option does not leave anyone unblocked. I talked with Russ about this at the Community Day and he mentioned that it causes problems leaving someone unblocked. Hopefully it's something we can see in the future but it's not in NCAA10. "

If there is no one to option off of, it is not an option play.
The reason teams with smaller linemen can succeed running the option is that the OL can leave larger D-linemen unblocked and make double teams or cutoff blocks at the second level.

Instead, this game forces them to base block, negating absolutely any advantage this type of play/offense has.

The reason you can still get yardage with option plays in this game is poor pursuit angles and Defensive AI.

NCAA has never gotten this right.
If the passing game was this broken, no one would bother to buy this game.

I'm not asking for a perfect game.
I'm asking for a game that sort of resembles what goes on in real life.

Georgia Tech had the most big plays (30+ and 20+ yd plays) in CFB last year...but EA can't even get the absolute basics of that style of offense right?

Someone convince me that NCAA 10 is still worth buying if I want to run the option.
Seriously, those people who think others complain too much about this game, tell me why the option is worth running.

That's Midline Option to the right.
The RG releases inside and blocks the MLB, leaving the 3 Tech DT unblocked.
That DT comes pretty much upfield, making it very hard for him to tackle #21, Dwyer, so the QB gives it off.

Because the MLB is blocked, the path to the endzone suddenly becomes a lot clearer.

If that DT was blocked, what would be the deciding factor on whether to hand it off or not?
What's the advantage of running that play now?

If it becomes a "big problem" to leave someone unblocked, something is fundamentally wrong with the game and needs to be fixed.

If something fundamental has been broken for over 10 years, what makes anyone think this game has much hope?
