Nevada played a 4-3 all last year and they return their two stud DEs. I think they're staying with the 4-3.

Boise also ran a 4-3 last year and I haven't heard anything about them changing it up.

Va. Tech has always been considered a 4-3 team even though they use different terminology. They have 2 ILBs and a "WHIP" so they could be either a 4-3 or 4-2-5.

Army's new defense basically uses 4-3 personnel.

That's why I didn't include those teams.

Oregon changed to a 4-3 last year.

Excerpt from CFN preview....

What you need to know:...... The big question will be the consistent alignment. The 4-3 won't be scrapped, but there are so many good defensive backs, and so many options, there will be a 4-2-5 used more often than not....

Do they drop him into coverage, or actually stand him up and use him as a LB?

south carolina interchanges from 4-2-5 and 3-3-5. the 5th db is always the spur lb, which is a hybrid olb strong safety. i didnt like the design of those formations last year and it was a hassle to get the spur lb in the right spot unless i put him at lolb, so i would just do that and run a 4-3 or 3-4.

Depends...

Schiano loves to use a lot of pre-snap movement. We run the 4-6 at times, then sometimes we take a LB from the 4-3 and he goes into a 3 point stance, and the same with a DE getting up and motioning out to become the 4th LB.
