Re: Too much play action?

What's weird is why he tells you to do a Fake Punt Pass while pinned back off your own 5.

Thanks for the tip, Corso!

yeah especially since it seems he recommends the same plays over and over again. I pretty much ignore the ask corso feature

Re: Too much play action?

I have always used the Ask Corso and Ask Madden features. I just don't want to dive into a deep playbook. If the game would let me break down plays into a custom playbook, such as "use X and Y plays on 3rd and 5+", etc., then I would bother jumping into the playbook.

Usually Ask Corso does an okay enough job of selecting a group of good plays for the down and distance. This year it is really bad though. If you scroll through all the pages, outside of 3rd and really long, its all play action passes and runs. I've tried 4 different playbooks so far to make sure, but it doesn't matter. Also, because he's mainly ONLY recommending play action passes (and runs), he suggests the same plays all the time, since most teams playbook don't contain a majority of passes being play action.

I'm assuming it's either PA off the jet sweep, or the animation where the quarter back fakes a sneak.

They are actually useful if executed at the right time.

Yep and so far its roughly 70% of the time he'll call for a fake punt or if in range a fake FG. If EA really wants to be total sim and no cheese they might want to look into the code for Corso...

Anyways it's easy enough to not use his suggestions.

Re: Too much play action?

My favorite was when I was on Georgia's 25 yd line with three seconds left tie game and Corso suggested I do a fake fg?!?! I guess it is kind of realistic since Corso is a huge moron in real life.

Re: Too much play action?

I wonder if this abundance of play action is a symptom of EA's recent tendency to overcook any new feature they add to the gameplay--just like how last year's "Wide Open Gameplay!" really translated into "There's No Defense!". This year, they added the "setup" feature in the playbooks (which, IMO, is a great idea but could use more nuance and sophistication in its implementation), and the computer's overuse of plays involving PA could be a symptom of that system. This is all speculation on my part, but it makes some sense to me that the two would be linked.
