I play NCAA online wireless and haven't had any hickups at all. I did have to go through and open ports and configure settings on my router and PS3 tho.

Played wireless, real slow... Bought a new router, all was fine.

My ps3 is literally within 5 feet from my router, and I take my ps3 to other people's houses alot so im usually to lazy to wire it up...wireless works good for me
