Tall Receivers?

I am wondering if anyone else has had problems with tall receivers. In my most recent recruiting class, I signed two receivers that are 6'9''. They have ratings in the low 80's for CTH and mid 80's for route running.

In spite of this, every (yes, every time) time I throw to one of them, the ball either bounces right off their hands or is right in front of them and they just miss the ball. Sometimes, they are wide open with no one near them and they still don't come up with the catch.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or, even better, does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for the input.

I have noticed that a 7 foot TE that I built for a teambuilder team has serious issues catching the ball, despite a high hands rating. He has dropped three in a row on at least two occasions.

I have a 6'6" & a 6'7" receivers and i havent had much problem with them. Maybe the awareness rating factors in to it, do your receivers have low awareness ratings? Thats the only thing i can think of.

I have a 6'7" Tight End who looks and runs like a Gazelle.
If he's wide open, it's going to look brilliant.
If there's a piece of lint ANYWHERE near him, he's not going to catch it.
Kids scared of his own Shadow, I think you might wanna check the Catch In Traffic Rating.

Re: Tall Receivers?

I have a 6'5" 248lb WR who I wanted to convert to TE but wasn't strong enough so I had him in the slot mostly... he would out body and get past the LB and DB but when it came to catching it just bounced off his hands... one time he was in the corner of the endzone with no one around and the pass hit his facemask bounced off and the safety about 5 yards away caught it and ran 108 yards for a TD to hold on for the win. He was promptly pulled for the rest of the season for that.
