I've been wanting to pick up a cheap used copy of a last gen NCAA for the PS2, but i'm not sure which is the best. I remember playing the crap out of 2004, but i'm wondering if the gameplay improvements in other future versions made them better.

2004 was great, although I liked 06 better. Even though 06 was too easy to pass.

NCAA 06 was epic. I heard NCAA 07 was pretty good aswell, also NCAA 04.

07 & 08 had a couple more bells and whistles, but I HATED the Momentum "feature". So, I would definitely go with 06 as well.

oh yeah I forgot about that "feature." wasn't that great lol.

Hard to say which is "best". It depends on what flaws in each version annoy you the least: the deep ball in 06, the frequent fumbles in 07, the pursuit angles in 08...

NCAA 04 was solid but it was too easy to stop the CPU from running the ball on any level lower than Heisman.

Yeah, you gotta go pre-07 to stay away from that momentum meter bunk. It ruined the series on the PS2. I'd say 06, and I'd be happy to share my sliders I used which greatly toned down the big play capability which was the major issue with this version.
