Re: NCAA 2004 recruiting???????????
Isn't Jacobs more like 6'4" 250 and runs a 4.5?
sub-6' OL aren't unheard of in real life, though they are generally listed at 6'1" on their team's roster. Adam Metts, a former Honorable mention All-ACC center for UNC, was listed at 6'1", but was no taller than 5'11". What DOES irritate me, though, is when you see 6' tall OTs. Those guys might play OG/C or DT, but there will never be a 6'0" tall OT.
The height was a little out of whack at times. I've seen a 6'5" CB (in reality he wouldn't probably have the lateral quicks and burst at that height to be an effective man to man CB) in the game, as well as several 6'4"/6'5" RBs. IMO, they ought to reduce the height of RBs across the board by 2 inches or so, as there were VERY few RBs in the 5'9" range, and I don't remember seeing any that were 5'8" or shorter. Last year, Fred Russell and Joe Igber were both highly productive backs at just 5'8", and Quinton Griffin checked in at about 5'6". I'd also like to see CB height reduced across the board, as there are a lot more 5'8"/5'9" CBs than would be generated, and in reality, very few CBs are actually 6' or taller. It has to do with body type and the skills necessary to play tight, man to man coverage. Tall guys generally don't have the hips and quicks to stay with receivers, which is what makes the few taller corners with that ability, like Woodson and Champ Bailey, such a golden commodity.
